NZSL Beginner 2 (Units 3 and 4) - Term 4
This is an 8 week course with 1 hour online workshops each week. This is a follow-on from the MERGE NZ Beginner 1 (Unit 1 & 2) course. You need to have completed the Beginner 1 course to be able to enrol for this one.
Learners are required to complete 6/8 sessions to receive the certificate. Learning is supported by monthly NZSL Club face to face meetings.
Course Breakdown:
Unit 3 – Family and Relationships
- Introduce and describe members of their whānau and wider family.
- Use signs relating to family relationships and personal information.
- Ask and answer questions about people, family and relationships.
- Use numbers, age and simple descriptive language in conversation.
- Develop confidence participating in short signed conversations.
Unit 4 – Daily Life and Activities
- Discuss everyday activities, routines and interests.
- Use signs relating to time, days, weeks and common activities.
- Ask and answer questions about what people do, where they go and when activities take place.
- Use a wider range of vocabulary and sentence structures in NZSL.
- Build fluency and confidence through interactive signed conversations.
