Kaiwhakamarumaru Harakeke Rāranga - Flax Plant Guards
The Harakeke Whanaungatanga workshop is an opportunity for adults to learn practical skills while strengthening their understanding of te ao Māori, tikanga and kaitiakitanga.
You will:
- Learn to prepare the harvested harakeke.
- Learn basic weaving skills to create plant guards.
- Explore kaitiakitanga through using harakeke to protect and nurture our young plants.
- Gain a greater understanding of harakeke and the tikanga guiding its care and use.
At the end of the workshop you will be able to take home a plant guard to use in your own garden, or gift to someone else.
