Fully Qualified  Counsellors - Student SupportPart-Time (Up to 30 hours per week)

Position: Fully Qualified Counsellor
Location: Local Schools (Multiple Locations) in Central Otago
Contract: Part-Time (Up to 30 hours per week)
Application Deadline: 5pm, Friday 12 December 2025

What We’re Looking For:

  • Professional Qualifications:
    • A recognised Bachelor or Master of Counselling     (NZAC-accredited) or equivalent.
    • Membership or eligibility for membership with the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC).
  • Experience & Skills:
    • Proven ability to work with children and their whānau in a school setting.
    • Strong understanding of child development and      trauma-informed practice.
    • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
    • Ability to collaborate with teachers, leadership, and external agencies.
  • Cultural Competence:
    • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice.
    • Ability to work effectively with Māori and diverse communities.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Empathetic, approachable, and professional.
    • Confidential and ethical in all interactions.
    • Flexible and proactive in supporting student wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counselling for students.
  • Support emotional, social, and behavioural wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and whānau to create a safe, inclusive environment.
  • Respond to crises and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold professional standards.
  • Work in a collaborative team, supporting other counsellors and sharing knowledge.
