Help local people build digital confidence for life, learning and work.

Central Otago REAP is looking for community-minded Digital Tutors who are passionate about helping people gain confidence using technology.

We know digital skills are no longer optional. Whether it is applying for jobs, connecting with whānau, accessing services, completing forms, using online banking, staying safe online, or simply learning how to use a phone or laptop, digital confidence helps people participate fully in community life.

We are looking for local people to support local people through one-to-one support, small group learning and practical hands-on workshops across Central Otago.

This role will work alongside our programmes and partnerships including Age Concern's SilverTech programme, employment and foundation skills initiatives, and community learning opportunities.

About the role

You may support learners with:

Everyday digital skills

  • Using smartphones, tablets and computers
  • Email and online communication
  • Online safety and scam awareness
  • Accessing services and websites
  • Photos, apps and social media
  • Video calling and staying connected

Employment and study support

  • Creating CVs and cover letters
  • Online job applications
  • Job searching and interview preparation
  • Digital tools for work and learning
  • Basic use of AI and productivity tools

Community and life skills

  • Building confidence with technology
  • Supporting older adults and beginners
  • Helping people access information and services
  • Encouraging independence and reducing barriers

We are looking for people who:

  • Enjoy connecting with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Are patient, approachable and encouraging
  • Can explain technology in simple, practical ways
  • Understand that everyone learns differently
  • Have good digital skills and confidence across common platforms
  • Value inclusion, manaakitanga and lifelong learning
  • Are comfortable working independently and collaboratively
  • Have a full driver's licence and can travel locally

It would be awesome if you also have:

  • Adult education, tutoring or mentoring experience
  • Experience supporting older adults, migrants, neurodiverse learners or second-chance learners
  • Knowledge of digital accessibility
  • Experience in employment support or foundation skills
