U3A Cromwell - Governance - R40 For Adults Only!
Speaker: Jane Lancaster MNZM
Jane started her working life as a research scientist in food and agriculture. She migrated in mid-life to a career in consulting for companies in food and agriculture, helping them to set programmes for new products and processes.
It was a natural progression to move into governance, where she was on a number of boards for 20 years and I was a chartered member of the NZ Institute of Directors.
She moved to Cromwell 3 years ago. In NZ there are about 620,000 companies (greater than 5 staff), 233,000 Trusts filing tax returns and 24,000 Incorporated Societies. This talk will look what governance is and is not and why good governance matters. Jane hopes to share some “war stories”, good and bad, from the boards she has worked on.
Jane trusts that at the end, you will understand my title, and why governance is for the mature personality, and also feel encouraged to contribute at a governance level to the many organisations in Central Otago that require people such as you...
