Intro to Laptops Alexandra - Term 4
This programme builds foundational digital skills and confidence, enabling adults to participate more fully in everyday life, lifelong learning, community engagement, and employment.
Using Google as a tool that is free and accessible accross devices and builds understanding and confidence to navigate, building awareness and strategies to keep safe online.
Course Breakdown:
Session 1 - Getting Started with Your Laptop
- Learn the basic parts of a laptop.
- Use the keyboard, mouse, and touchpad with confidence.
- Navigate the desktop, open and close programs, and manage files.
Session 2 – Email Made Easy
- Set up or access an email account.
- Send, receive, and reply to emails.
- Attach photos or documents and organise your inbox.
Session 3 – Browsing the Internet
- Search for information online.
- Navigate websites and access everyday online services.
- Learn how to recognise reliable information.
Session 4 – Creating Simple Digital Documents
- Create a basic document, poster, or flyer using beginner-friendly digital tools.
- Add text, images, and simple formatting.
- Save, print, and share your work.
Session 5 – Staying Safe Online
- Learn how to protect your personal information.
- Recognise online scams, fake messages, and unsafe links.
- Build confidence using the internet safely for everyday life, learning, and work.
