Central Otago REAP aims to offer a full range of relevant and user-friendly computer courses. The courses are progressive - from the 4-week Absolute Beginners course, on to the 6-week courses, through to the extensive Focus-On Series. Each course is designed for students to work at their own pace, with a maximum class size of 7 providing the opportunity for more one-to-one tuition and guidance. Evaluations at the completion of each course are followed up, with courses being regularly adapted to meet changing needs and to keep up with technology.

Central Otago REAP is an NZQA (New Zealand Qualifications Authority) accredited provider. This allows us to offer unit standards, or assessments, as part of a number of our computer courses. Students who successfully complete the unit standard attached to their course gain NZQA credits, and these credits can lead towards a National Certificate qualification.

For more information about any of the courses, please contact CO REAP. We can discuss your requirements with you, and send you out or e-mail more details about the course, or courses you are interested in.

Some of the computer courses available :
  • Computing for Absolute Beginners - This course is designed for those with no prior knowledge of computers.
  • Text Processing - This course teaches you to key-in by touch which provides a platform for all future keyboarding.
  • Stage 2: Beginners/Intermediate Computing - This course lays a strong foundation for all computing, introducing you to a range of Windows-based programmes, ie. Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher. There is an optional NZQA unit standard attached to this course, Desktop Publishing Unit 2792, worth 1 credit.
  • Stage 3: Intermediate Computing - This course follows on from the previous Stage 2 course, building on and developing the skills gained within the same range of Windows programmes. There is an optional NZQA unit standard attached to this course, Unit 2788, worth 3 credits. This unit incorporates the word processing and file management components of the course.
  • Focusing on Series - Individual Windows-based programmes are offered separately, enabling you to relax and enjoy a particular programme by "focusing" solely on it.
  • Web Page Design - A series which takes you through the basics of web design and html editing.
  • Open Computing - this is a flexible-term option for computing, held every Thursday morning from 9:30 - 12 noon. Tackle any tasks you want for the period of time you want - we have the resources and the tutor available.
  • What's new in XP? - A 2 week course looking at the latest changes in Windows software.
