| Geography:
This area is bounded by the Old Man and Old Woman range and
the Crawford Hills. The Alexandra township is situated at
the confluence of the Clutha and the Manuherikia Rivers. The
main economic base is orchard and surrounding agriculture
industry although some boutique wineries and cafés
are developing. Clyde is noted for its fine dining, The local
hospital is situated there and Clyde also has a primary school.
Alexandra has 3 primary schools, a secondary with boarding
hostel, with Alexandra generally seen as the service centre
for Government agencies. The region is known for its gold
mining early days.
