What is REAP?

Central Otago REAP (Rural Education Activities Programme) is a Ministry of Education and Tertiary Education Commission funded organisation that facilitates educational opportunities in the Central Otago region. REAP operates across the entire community spectrum from early childhood through primary and secondary schooling, to continuing education for the adult community. It is a NOT FOR PROFIT organisation, which is contracted by the Ministry of Education and Tertiary Education Commission to meet a variety of performance outcomes. Additional funding is created by individual contracts in specialist areas.

Central Otago REAP was established in 1979 and is one of 13 REAPS in New Zealand.

Who are we?

REAP is an Incorporated Society. As such an annual financial and statement of performance audit is carried out. A Management Committee is elected for a two year term. Financial Members are eligible to be nominated for a position on the Management Committee.

Financial Members: As a financial member of Central Otago REAP you will be kept up to date with the activities of REAP. You will receive REAP's quarterly newsletter with information on upcoming courses and events. You will also be entitled to vote at our Annual General Meeting.

Wendy Bamford - Board Chairperson

Bernice Lepper - Manager & Community Education Organiser

Bernice was employed as the Community Education Facilitator in October 1997 and became the Manager in 1998. Bernice comes from a teaching background with over 20 years experience. She was Assistant Principal at Dunstan High School in Alexandra prior to this position. Bernice believes REAP has a vital role in the Central Otago area in providing activities that enhance the educational opportunities available to the rural community. Bernice is also a well known multisport athlete.
